Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Offers Full Suite of Health Care Research Tools in Spanish
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -With Florida’s population growing more diverse, the ability to communicate with people from different cultures has become an important part of serving customers. As a result, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) is now offering a full suite of decision support tools through WebMD, including Healthcare Advisor, Physician Selection Advisor, Hospital Advisor and Treatment Cost Advisor in Spanish to accommodate the needs of Hispanic Floridians enrolled in BlueOptions and BlueChoice products.
“The Hispanic population is increasing at three times the rate of the general population in Florida,” said Dr. Miguel Fernandez, senior medical director, BCBSF. “By seeking out and offering additional tools in Spanish, we are demonstrating our commitment to improving the quality of care and service that our Hispanic members receive. The decision support tools from WebMD, which recently acquired Subimo, provide specific health information around diabetes, heart disease, maternal and pediatric care, mature health issues, and many others so members can better manage their health and that of their loved ones.”
WebMD’s Healthcare Advisor, Physician Selection Advisor and Hospital Advisor and Treatment Cost Advisor are web-based research tools that include over 150 medical conditions and procedures, as well as suggested questions to ask a physician or benefit plan regarding managing a condition or evaluating the cost of a procedure. The tools allow members to research and compare physicians on attributes such as demographics, education, training, affiliations, certifications, and to find and compare hospitals side-by-side for specific procedures or types of care.
